Job Summary
The Associate Director of Food & Nutrition Services supports the overall operation of foodservice programs within an acute care hospital. This leadership role oversees multiple service areas, including Patient Dining Services, Retail Dining Operations (cafeteria, physician lounges, coffee shop), and Catering Services. The Associate Director partners with department leadership to ensure exceptional patient and customer experiences, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the leadership and daily management of patient dining, retail, and catering operations
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, service excellence, sanitation, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Support financial performance through effective labor, food cost, inventory, and budget management
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient, guest, and client satisfaction
  • Develop, coach, and mentor managers and frontline associates
  • Foster strong relationships with hospital leadership and interdisciplinary teams
  • Monitor operational and financial metrics to drive continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of progressive foodservice management experience, including healthcare/hospital operations
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management, Hospitality, Nutrition, or a related field
  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN), Certified Dietary Manager (CDM), or related certification preferred
  • Experience overseeing multiple service lines, including patient services, retail dining, and catering
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements
  • Proven leadership, financial management, and team development skills
  • Experience with budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, and food cost management
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
  • ServSafe® certification required or obtainable within established timeframe.
