Job description

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Highway Engineering Associate II for the Timonium office.

If you are interested in growing your skills and working on exciting projects, then this is a great opportunity for you. The Highway Engineering Associate II candidate will be responsible for roadway/highway analysis and design, plans production, specifications, reports, and estimates efforts on conventional and design-build projects for MDOT SHA, county and municipal clients. Opportunity to work on projects within Maryland and across the country.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university program or equivalent experience Minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Basic knowledge of civil engineering design, systems, calculations, along with the application of engineering methods; Experience in highway design and plan production with the ability to perform planning, conceptual design, preliminary engineering, and final design activities; Experience with Bicycle and Pedestrian Facility Design; Experience with various planning studies, such as transportation purpose and need assessments, multi-modal evaluations, logical termini/independent utility analyses, engineering feasibility and transportation planning studies, alternatives analyses, as well as all stages of project planning to obtain NEPA/MEPA approval; Experience or interest in ITS Planning and Design, safety and mobility studies, Signing and Pavement Markings Design, Lighting Analysis and Design, and Traffic Signal Design. Coordinated Traffic Signal Timing Development and Implementation Strong knowledge of AASHTO A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices; Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, and/or Open Roads Designer; Experience with preparing quantities, cost estimates, plan sheets, specifications, and reports for milestone submittals; Experience working with multi-discipline teams; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and overall quality control and management; and; Conscientious of project schedules and deadlines involving deliverables (including interim deadlines).

Preferred Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA), Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA), local municipality, and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) policies and procedures; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads, and/or Open Roads Designer; Working knowledge of 3D workspaces/corridor modeling Experience working on General Engineering Consultant and Design-Build contracts EIT certification PE certification preferred but not required

Hiring Salary Range: ($80,983 - $125,571) - for this location. The final agreed upon compensation is commensurate with experience relative to the position and/or primary work location.
