With more than 80 attorneys across 6 offices, we provide trusted legal guidance in key areas including Local Government, Business Law, and Litigation Defense. We are seeking an experienced Local Government attorney to help us expand and serve in our growing Durham office.
This is a unique opportunity to practice true Local Government Law. We're looking for an attorney who understands the inner workings of cities, counties, and municipalities and is ready to make a meaningful impact in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill region.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active member of the North Carolina State Bar
  • Five or more years of experience practicing Local Government Law in North Carolina
  • Strong understanding of municipal operations, FOIA, zoning, procurement, governance, and public meetings
  • Existing relationships or experience with municipalities in the area is a plus

Your Role
  • Advise local governments on legal matters including governance, contracts, land use, and public meetings
  • Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, and legal opinions
  • Represent localities in administrative and legal proceedings
  • Stay current on legal developments affecting municipal clients
