Job description

BRAND DESIGNER

Center for Elders’ Independence is a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) organization (PO) that uses an interdisciplinary team approach for care planning and implementing purposeful, high-quality, affordable, and integrated health care services to older adults. Our PO includes Adult Day Health Centers and primary care clinics, promoting participant autonomy, quality of life, and the ability for individuals to live in their communities.

The Position:   The Brand Designer will both shape the evolution of our brand and deliver high-quality, on-demand visual and interactive assets that help CEI communicate clearly, consistently, and effectively. As the steward of CEI’s visual identity, the Brand Designer will refine, systematize, and optimize the brand to scale effectively across the organization. The Brand Designer will also lead the production of day-to-day materials that support Marketing and Communications and multiple cross-functional teams. This role combines strategy and hands-on design to build user-friendly brand systems and elevate the visual expression of CEI’s mission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development of brand systems, including updating brand guidelines, visual language, typography, color, and imagery
  • Translate strategic objectives into visual concepts and frameworks
  • Serve as the primary guardian of the brand, ensuring consistency across all internal and external channels

Design Systems:

  • Evolve and maintain a comprehensive library of branded templates, including slide decks, documents, Canva templates, social media assets, and email templates
  • Develop new, accessible design resources and guidance in partnership with internal cross-functional teams, enabling non-designer team members to distribute content in appropriately branded packages
  • Create and maintain a centralized asset hub, including logos, icons, elements, and media

Asset Production:

  • Design a range of visual assets, including for campaigns, presentations, reports, direct mail, email, web, social media, and display
  • Ensure all materials meet standards for accessibility, usability, and brand alignment
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders to meet day-to-day design needs

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications colleagues to manage design requests and production timelines, meeting expectations for timely delivery
  • Provide guidance to team members on usage of brand elements and branded templates
  • Iterate, evolve, and improve brand systems and processes over time in collaboration with Marketing and Communications colleagues and executive leadership
  • Work with external partners, contractors, and agencies to manage and meet overflow or specialty needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, visual arts, or media preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in brand design, visual design, or similar role.
  • Strong design portfolio demonstrating both brand identity work and production-level design applications.
  • Experience managing and extending brand systems and style guides.
  • Demonstrated expertise in both print (direct mail, flyers, signage, etc.) and digital (email, web, social, video) formats
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and deliver designs on or ahead of deadlines

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Brand and Strategic Design

  • Ability to evolve and maintain a cohesive brand identity
  • Strong ability to create and apply visual systems across digital and print
  • Excellent skills related to typography, layout, color theory, composition, and visual hierarchy
  • Able to review and guide contractors and specialists in producing work consistent with internal standards

Technical Skills

  • Expert-level proficiency in using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.); short-format video editing (Premiere, etc.) a strong plus
  • Solid understanding of visual accessibility standards, such as color contrast, type size, and document formatting
  • Strong ability to execute print pre-press and production tasks
  • Familiarity with digital design principles, including optimal resolution, mobile-first design, and web design principles (coding ability not required)
  • Understanding of basic HTML and CSS styles

Systems and Templates

  • Ability to create responsive email templates using standard email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp and Marketing Cloud
  • Ability to create user-friendly assets for non-designers
  • Strong ability to create scalable design libraries and templates for industry-standard platforms (Powerpoint, Word, Canva, etc.)

Production

  • Ability to efficiently deliver high-quality branded assets
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistency in work
  • Comfortable handling short-turnaround design needs in tandem with planned larger projects

Collaboration

  • Strong ability to clearly communicate design rationale and guide stakeholders on brand use
  • Ability to speak clearly and compellingly about visual brand identity to non-designers, providing guidance in accessing effective, on-brand solutions
  • Ability to collaboratively respond to and address stakeholder input

Center for Elders’ Independence is a PACE (Program of All- Inclusive Care for the Elderly) organization that uses an interdisciplinary team approach to care planning and care implementation for the purpose of providing high quality, affordable, integrated health care services to the elderly, including an Adult Day Health Center, and promoting autonomy, quality of life and the ability of individuals to live in their communities. Unlike other healthcare plans, CEI is not a "fee-for-service" plan. It is a “capitation” healthcare plan. CEI is paid a set amount for each person enrolled in our program, whether or not that individual seeks care. We are a growing company that offers stability and continues to thrive.
