Job description

Job Description Title: QC Engineer Comp: $90,000 - $120,000 Location: Indianapolis, IN Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a candidate for a QC Engineer direct hire in Indianapolis, IN. Responsibilities: Review engineering drawings and documentation after customer approval to ensure quality and code compliance Verify designs meet ASME standards (strong emphasis on Section VIII) prior to fabrication release Work closely with engineering, sales, fabrication, and purchasing teams throughout project lifecycle Oversee quality inspection activities including weld inspections, NDE, x-ray testing, and pressure testing Support inspection and test plans (ITPs) and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for bid packages and production release Release approved drawings to shop floor supervisors and procurement teams Coordinate material sourcing requirements (domestic/international restrictions per customer specs) Interact directly with customers and suppliers on technical and quality-related matters Support both in-house machining and outsourced fabrication quality verification Spend time both in office and on the shop floor (approx. 60/40 split) Manage multiple active projects (typically 5-10 concurrent, job-shop environment) Required Skills: Associate's degree required (Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred) 4+ years of relevant experience in quality engineering or QC roles Experience with ASME codes, strongly preferred Section VIII (pressure vessels) Background in heat exchangers or pressure vessel manufacturing Strong understanding of quality inspection processes (NDE, weld testing, pressure testing) Experience working with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and industrial alloys Ability to interpret 2D/3D CAD drawings (AutoCAD or SolidWorks required) Experience creating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) Strong communication skills with customers, vendors, and internal teams Experience in fabrication or job-shop manufacturing environments Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-project environments Preferred Skills: CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification or strong welding quality background Experience with static equipment, heat exchangers, or pressure vessel fabrication Ability to perform ASME-related engineering or quality calculations Project engineering exposure (bid-to-build lifecycle involvement) Experience working in small engineering teams or cross-functional environments Strong problem-solving mindset ("solution-oriented" approach) Exposure to petrochemical, oil & gas, or chemical processing industries Experience working with international and domestic supply chains Drafting experience (may start in drafting before transitioning fully into QC role) #ENG123.
