Principal Duties and Responsibilities:ย 

Manages wardrobeย and hairย personnel, including but not limited to:ย 

  • Overseesย Wardrobe Supervisor and Hair & Wigย Supervisorsย whoย createย work assignmentsย andย managesย theย day-to-dayย schedule andย workflow.ย 
  • Provides materials and equipment needed for wardrobe and hair personnel to successfully open, run, and close a show.ย ย 
  • Ensuresย wardrobeย and hairย personnel understand and uphold OSF mission and values.ย 
  • Ensuresย wardrobeย and hairย personnel understand andย adhere toย the company handbook, collective bargaining agreement,ย AEAย guidelinesย andย production department guidelines.ย ย 
  • Ensuresย wardrobe and hair personnelย understand andย adhereย to safetyย procedures,ย creatingย additionalย safety protocols when necessary.ย ย 
  • Ensures regular inspections of hairย salonย and stations, adhering to HLO, Health Licensing Office regulations on safety, sanitization, and infection control.ย 
  • Recruits, hires,ย conductsย performance reviews, manages progressive disciplineย with P&C, andย organizes the on-boarding and off-boarding processes for wardrobe and hair personnel.ย 
  • Performs administrative tasks such as payroll, expense reports, and injury forms.ย ย

Managesย theย Wardrobeย and Hairย support of shows. Duties include and are not limited to:ย 

    • Organizesย and/orย ensuresย organization of all wardrobeย and hairย functions for individual shows, includingย workingย technical rehearsals, troubleshooting,ย runย crew documentation, and show reports.ย ย 
    • Managesย allย Hair & Wig and understudyย fittingsย with the Director of Stage Management.ย 
    • Ensures design integrity andย quality control of the costumeย and hairย designย throughout the season.ย 
    • Ensures the maintenance and organization ofย wardrobe andย hairย spaces and equipment.ย ย 
    • Ensuresย wardrobe and hair follow safety, sanitization, infection control of allย workspaces; providesย disinfectantsย and safety equipment.ย 
    • Ensures Wigย Leadsย and Key Stylist organizeย hair/wig inventory, pull, purchase, alter, orย manufacture all wigs, hair styles,ย andย facial hair as designedย and approvedย by the Costume Designer. Supervises scheduleย for hair careย and wigย maintenance.ย 
    • Collaborates with Costume Designer andย Wigย Leadsย to create show specific make-up.ย 
    • Collaborates and communicates with the Costumeย Shopย to balance the show requirements with OSF resources toย meet show and performer needs safely and efficiently-ย regardingย wig builds, quick changes, understudyย fittingsย and wig fittings, andย hair prep or style.ย 
    • Develops and advocates for Wardrobeย and Hairโ€™s annual labor, material, and capital budgets in theย seasonย budgeting process. Manages budgets throughout the year, keeping leadership apprised of any challenges.ย 
    • Attends Production Meetings, show specific costumeย meetings;ย convenesย department meetings and show specific wardrobeย and hairย meetings.ย 
    • Participates and actively engages in Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations.ย 

    Collaborates, coordinates, and communicates with many internal stakeholders about wardrobeย and hairย functions. Some examples include:ย ย ย ย 

    • Costume Shop:ย regardingย costume closure modifications andย special careย of costumes and wigs, resources, paperwork, load out schedule, cleaning and restoring costume rental items, and production transfers.ย 
    • Collaborates andย resolvesย pre-showย scheduleย forย hairย prepย andย dressing order,ย quick change choreography,ย andย on-stageย pre-sets.ย 
    • Stage Management:ย regardingย AEA updates, run crew assignment needs,ย andย show breakdowns; keeping apprised changes to entrances/exit locations and run times; collaborating closely with quick changes prioritizing crew and actor safety, and specific needs for any given performance, understudy fittings, etc.ย 

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:ย ย 

    • Responds to after-hours emergencies andย participatesย in emergency response teams.ย 
    • Assistย in maintenance, transportation, and cleaning of show and rehearsal costumes, includingย dry cleaning, as neededย 
    • Emergency understudyย duringย the runย of shows.ย 
    • Representsย OSF at organizational functions and conferences when requested.ย ย 
    • Advises and/or leads facility maintenance and improvement projects asย appropriate.ย 
    • Assist Development and Marketing departments (for example, occasional donor events or creating content re: quick changes for social media outlets).ย 
    • Other duties as assigned byย Costumeย Director.ย

    Required:ย 

    Education: High: School Graduate or equivalent.ย 

    Work Experience:ย 5 years of experience inย professionalย theatrical wardrobe,ย preferablyย experience supervising projects and/or peopleย in the entertainment industry.ย 

    Preferred:ย 

    • Experience in using industrial and home sewing machines with a variety of fabrics.ย ย 
    • Knowledge or ability to understand regulations detailed in OHA, Oregon Healthย Authorityย Cosmetology Safety and Sanitation rules.ย 
    • Experience in wig building, wig fronting, dying lace, and with working various adhesive methods.ย 
    • Experience in wig building and hair care of Black/African American and multi-textured hair.ย 
    • Experience with special effects on-stage makeup and prosthetics supporting all skin tones and genders.ย 

    Qualifications/Skills:ย ย ย 

    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.ย 
    • Ability to effectively address conflict and resolve in a professional manner in line with OSFโ€™s values.ย ย 
    • Knowledge of costume periods, safe work practices, and understanding repertory calendars.ย 
    • Thorough knowledge using computer software, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, and other cloud-based information sharing systems. ย 
    • Proficient in quick-change choreography for run crew planning with both costumes and hair.ย 
    • Demonstrate initiative and tenacityย in short-term and long-term planning.ย ย 
    • Ability to collaborate and behave in a productive manner with colleagues and staff.ย ย 
    • Ability to adapt and flex to operational changes and new procedures.ย

    Physical Ability:ย 

    • Lift and move costumes, wigs, and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, climb stairs repeatedly, kneel, squat, and bend. Sit and stand for eight hours or more a day.ย ย

    Special Hours Requirements:ย 

    • Night-time/overnight and weekend hours are regularlyย required.ย The standardย work week is Tuesday โ€“ Sunday. Long hours areย required, especially during technical rehearsals. The ability to respondย toย emergencies with little notice isย required.ย 

    Preferred:ย 

    • Experience working with unions and within the context of collectiveย bargaining agreements. Attendedย EDI or anti-racist trainings. Experienceย working in aย repertoryย environment.ย ย
