Position Overview

The Program Director will provide operational and strategic leadership across multiple educational program sites while supporting staff development, compliance, program quality, and organizational growth initiatives.
This role starts as a transitional leadership position, giving both the organization and the candidate time to assess long-term leadership alignment, operational capacity, and organizational fit before moving into a permanent executive leadership role with benefits and advancement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of after-school and summer programming across multiple sites
  • Supervise and support Site Managers, instructional staff, operational teams, and support personnel
  • Monitor program quality, compliance, staffing structures, and student engagement
  • Conduct regular site visits, coaching conversations, and leadership meetings
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development systems
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, licensing expectations, and safety procedures
  • Review staffing schedules, attendance systems, payroll coordination, and operational reporting
  • Collaborate with school administrators, community partners, families, and leadership teams
  • Assist in strengthening organizational systems, procedures, and leadership infrastructure
  • Analyze operational needs and implement strategic solutions that support sustainable growth
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and student-centered leadership

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of leadership or management experience in education, youth development, nonprofit operations, or school-based programming
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience supervising teams and providing staff coaching and feedback
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Experience with compliance oversight, operational systems, and program management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing multi-site educational or after-school programs
  • Knowledge of grant-funded programming, including 21st CCLC initiatives
  • Experience with strategic planning and organizational growth
  • Experience developing leadership teams and operational systems
