Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000/year

Role Summary: The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the accounting function. This role helps ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and timely; supports the monthly close and reconciliation process; and assists in maintaining strong internal controls. The Assistant Controller provides day-to-day guidance to Senior and Staff Accountants, Accounts Payable Specialists, and Accounting Specialists, and serves as a key point of continuity and support for the Controller across reporting, audit, tax, and Owner-Operator relationships.


Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides day-to-day guidance and review of work for Senior and Staff Accountants, Accounts Payable Specialists, and Accounting Specialists, in coordination with and under the direction of the Controller.


Essential Functions:

  • Assists the Controller in ensuring monthly financial statements are complete, accurate, timely, and prepared in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Reviews and reconciles material balance sheet accounts prior to financial statement publication and helps identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Escalates material accounting, financial, or cash issues to the Controller in a timely manner.
  • Supports the day-to-day supervision, training, and development of the accounting team, reinforcing clear accountability and deadlines.
  • Assists in preparing historical financial information, budget and forecast inputs, and variance analysis to support NBG leadership and TCG Finance.
  • Helps establish and maintain internal controls that safeguard company resources and reduce financial and operational risk.
  • Supports the relationship with the external audit and tax firms, including gathering documentation and helping ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assists with the administration of company insurance requirements, including renewals, certificates, and claims coordination.
  • Supports the accounting and financial onboarding of new Owner-Operators. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Controller.
Requirements:

Minimum Required Education/Credentials/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 4 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including some experience guiding or reviewing the work of others
  • Preference towards 3+ years in public accounting
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with all levels of management

Preferred Education/Credentials/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • CPA or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred
  • Homebuilding or multi-entity accounting experience preferred
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff preferred

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Work Environment: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
