The Retail Web Technology (RWT) organization leads the development and maintenance of Schwab's premier digital platform for retail clients - individual investors just like you. We also Support Retirement Plan Services (RPS) web platform.
Our team is seeking a talented and experienced Software Developer, who embraces being technical leader and has a real passion for using state of the art web technologies to build compelling interactive web applications. What you'll do:
As a QA-focused Software Developer, you will be responsible for the delivery of quality features for Schwab retail and Retirement web applications. The role will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive testing across functional integration, regression, API and End-to-end testing. You will partner closely with software engineers, product owners and other stakeholders throughout the SDLC to identify risks early, improve test coverage and ensure high-quality releases.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define Test Strategy including Cross-Browser, Localization, Accessibility, Resiliency testing.
  • Understand requirements and write manual and automated testcases
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and cross browser testing
  • Implement standard methodologies, resolve test issues, track and prioritize defects, record test results, participate in product readiness and release decisions
  • Ensure automation is constantly running, analyzing, and promptly reporting on failures
  • Participate in technical governance and help facilitate overall product quality standards with development and business teams
  • Foster our end-to-end testing approach across multiple applications
  • Research, investigate, and implement Agile testing practices, Test Driven Development, Test Automation and reporting Test Metrics
  • Liaise with product teams, Product Owners and Scrum Masters to integrate project plans, testing schedules, and metrics reporting
  • Assist in driving Use Case and User Story reviews, and help resolve requirements ambiguities
  • Partner with geographically distributed teams to plan our future QA tooling and technology decisions
  • Utilize AI tools to speed up the test suite creation and execution

What you have
To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.
Required Qualifications:
  • Current working experience with Schwab systems and processes
  • 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance
  • 5+ years developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts
  • Solid understanding of QA practices (black box testing, risk-based testing, system testing, regression testing, exploratory testing)
  • Hands-on coding experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Ruby, Java, C# or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Experience with Selenium WebDriver, Angular UI testing (Protractor, WebdriverIO), or similar
  • Experience writing automated tests for cross browser (SauceLabs) and localization testing.
  • Experience with accessibility testing.
  • Experience with Agile development practices
  • Ability to participate in product code reviews
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard tools for logging bugs and managing test cases (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr).
  • Hands-on experience with Web services virtualization
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior staff and other team members.

Preferrd Qualifications:
  • Experience with Gherkin language, like Cucumber, JBehave, or SpecFlow
  • Understanding of CI/CD practices and Lean DevOps methodologies
  • Familiarity with Bamboo and Git
  • Financial/Trading services industry interest is a plus
  • Understanding of Cloud Technologies
