Welcome to The Freelance Firm!
We are a national network of experienced, high-level, freelance attorneys and paralegals who provide remote, on-demand support for both short-term and long-term legal projects for our client law firms.
Due to increased demand, we are now interviewing for a qualified, experienced, and dedicated Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal / Docketer.
Remote work hours will vary, but are expected to be approximately 10+ hours per week.
Paralegal / Docketer Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an IP Paralegal, IP Docketer, or similar intellectual property legal professional
  • Strong experience with intellectual property docketing and deadline management
  • Experience maintaining and monitoring patent and/or trademark prosecution dockets
  • Ability to accurately calculate, calendar, and track critical USPTO and international filing deadlines
  • Experience reviewing incoming correspondence from the USPTO, WIPO, foreign associates, and outside counsel and entering applicable deadlines into docketing systems
  • Experience supporting patent and/or trademark prosecution matters, including applications, responses, renewals, maintenance filings, and related documentation
  • Strong understanding of USPTO procedures, filing requirements, and prosecution timelines
  • Experience with electronic filing systems and intellectual property docketing software specifically Alt Legal Docketing Software
  • Ability to perform regular docket reviews and proactively communicate upcoming deadlines to attorneys and legal teams
  • Strong document management and recordkeeping skills with the ability to maintain accurate electronic IP files
  • Ability to manage a high volume of deadlines and matters while maintaining exceptional accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when calculating and entering critical dates and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and proactively identify docketing issues

Our Paralegal pay rate starts at $30/hour.
