Job description

Job Description
Two-year full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Religious Studies
The Department of Religious Studies at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Religious Studies with specialization in American Religions beginning Fall 2026. This is a two-year appointment, ending in Spring 2028.
Responsibilities:
The position involves an in-person teaching load of eighteen credits per year which typically equates to five courses per academic year. The successful candidate is scheduled to teach two four-credit sections of RE105W "Studying Religion in America" (a writing-intensive gateway course) in Fall 2026. Candidate's area of specialization is open. The department would particularly welcome candidates who complement our current strengths and/or could contribute courses in areas such as Black Studies; Gender Studies; Indigenous Studies; Islam; Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies;or Media and Film Studies.
Qualifications:
• Candidates with a Ph.D. or ABD in Religious Studies or related field will be considered.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level
Salary: $68,989.
