Description
Rice Companies is looking to add an Assistant Project Manager to the team at our Sauk Rapids, MN headquarters. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting Project Managers in the activities of a project to ensure cost, schedule, document control, and quality standards are met. The APM is expected to take on any/all tasks in the process to learn all they can about construction and project management.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Support PM/Estimator in preparing bid packages
  • Works with PM to coordinate/oversee pre-construction meetings with customers and subcontractors
  • Support PM by ensuring project materials and resources are delivered to job site in timely manner
  • Maintains project schedule and project budgets to insure job is being completed in a timely and cost effective manner; also insures customer scheduling requirements are being met
  • Works with PM to review all costs to job weekly and approves of subcontractor/vendor billings
  • Reports project progress to weekly Production Management group
  • Works with PM to review, approve, or deny any requests from subcontractors regarding changes to project and their eventual addition to (or decrease to) overall project cost
  • Supports PM to work with customer in applying any additional (or decrease) in cost to project to ensure potential Change Order to customer is understood/accepted
  • Partners with PM to remain in constant contact with customer at appropriate times through construction project to make sure client satisfaction is met
  • Obtain permits for projects
  • Review owner contract and become familiar with terms & conditions
  • Review drawings and specifications to become intimately familiar with constructability of project
  • In Procore: upload drawings, project submittals, change orders, subcontracts
  • Support PM in creating Project Punch lists
  • Manage smaller scoped projects as assigned
  • Support PM in preparing estimates and project budgets using Rice Companies proprietary software, Timberline/Sage 300
  • Print construction drawings for subcontractors and Project Supervision as requested
  • Manage project submittals and RFIs
  • Participates in and promotes Rice Companies Safety Program
  • Ensures subcontractors are compliant with, or exceed, Rice Companies requirements

Qualifications:
  • Four (4) year construction management degree or its equivalent
  • Minimum of two to three (2-3) years demonstrated construction experience
  • Timberline/Sage 300 Estimating, Procore software skills are a plus, but not a requirement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with basic office equipment (calculator, copier, scanner, fax, etc.)
  • Demonstrated performance of multiple tasks in a fast-paced construction environment with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work closely with customers and represent Rice Companies in a professional manner
