Job description

Stevens Construction Corp. is a commercial general contractor with self-performed trades of concrete, carpentry, and prefabricated wall components, serving the Midwestern Region. We specialize in the new construction of various commercial multi-unit, senior living, student living, and mixed-use buildings.

This is a 100% in-office role with flexibility as needed! The Project Accountant is based out of our Corporate Office in Madison, WI. 

The Project Accountant is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring the project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected. In addition:

  • Prepare monthly owner payment applications, sworn statements, lien documentation, and other supporting documents to ensure timely project payments.
  • Monitor project costs and billings to identify potential underbilling and track variances between contract and internal costs.
  • Manage project equipment and consumable billing, including entering project charges and maintaining accurate records in Timberline and Toolwatch.
  • Research and resolve tax, contract, vendor, invoice, and lien waiver questions as they arise.
  • Prepare financial closeout documentation and assist with project closeout activities.
  • Support Project Managers and the Accounting team with project-related financial tasks and Accounts Payable overflow as needed.

Requirements:

  • Education: minimum associate's degree in accounting or related degree. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • CPA preferred, not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites with ability to learn accounting specific software.
  • Must have high attention to detail, strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Must have positive attitude and willingness to learn!
