The Role We Want You For
A senior project accountant is the first resource for a project manager (or anyone) with questions regarding assigned projects. Should be a mentor to project accountants and provide them with an additional resource for training. This position requires good communication skills within entire organization, accounting department and outside company. Manage time effectively to get work completed on schedule and ability to prioritize workload.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Complete Job Master set up in JDE with all the necessary information (project staff, contract type, bonded, insurance, etc.).
  • Provide Project Managers with reports and answer all questions on projects.
  • Monthly review of over and under billings.
  • Assist with contract audits on assigned projects.
  • Monitor and maintain subcontracts in accounting system for all projects.
  • Use of Textura to assist in preparation of monthly pay applications.
  • Process subcontractor and material supplier invoices.
  • Process project overhead invoices through system.
  • Assist vendors and subcontractors when inquiring on invoice/payment status.
  • Prepare original invoice (send all information as required by owner such as lien waivers, accompanying schedules, copies of invoices, etc.).
  • Review owner contract to understand all terms for billing.
  • Maintain the contract values and billing in the accounting system.
  • Assist with sales/use tax audits and Clayco annual audits.
  • Mentoring Project Accountants and Project Accounting Clerk.
  • Help Assistant Accounting Managers with Training Materials and Lunch & Learns.
  • Miscellaneous special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Accounting and/or 5 years’ experience in the construction industry.
  • Must possess a strong background in general ledger, cost and management accounting.
  • The ability to function effectively in a highly entrepreneurial environment, both as a team player and independently.
  • Advanced computer skills.
