Assistant Professor of Business Administration — Finance

Transylvania University (www.transy.edu) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position in Business Administration, beginning August 25, 2027. The Business Administration program integrates knowledge from all areas of business and allows students to apply those concepts to solving real problems faced by companies and organizations. Our courses prepare students for a range of opportunities, from starting their own business to joining a Fortune 500 company. The business classes, along with the general liberal arts courses required of all Transylvania students, provide a well-rounded education that can best suit our students’ interests. In addition, Transylvania’s convenient location in the heart of the city translates into a wide variety of job and internship opportunities for business majors.

Who are we looking for?

Eligible candidates will have a Ph.D. in Finance or a related field by the start date. All research areas will be considered but a specialization in finance, corporate finance, investment management, or FinTech is preferred. The successful candidate will have a commitment to teaching, value interdisciplinary dialogue, and work collaboratively with other faculty. The teaching load consists of three courses per term, plus one short-term course in May term (3-3-1). Responsibilities include:

  • Teach Introduction to Business, Personal Finance, Financial Management, Investment Analysis, and Financial Planning, as well as topics within their area of specialty.
  • Contributions to teaching core classes such as Senior Seminar are expected, along with occasional supervision of community internships and independent research.
  • Occasional contributions to First-Year programing and service as an academic adviser.
  • Other responsibilities include academic scholarship/professional activity, preferably involving undergraduate students, and service to the university through various committee appointments.
