Position Summary

The University of Southern Indiana seeks applications for a full-time, 12-month Assistant Professor of Respiratory Therapy and Director of Clinical Education (DCE). The position is tenure track and will begin as soon as possible upon completion of the candidate search.

Duties/Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include: curriculum/course education development; teaching courses in the entry-level and degree advancement BSRT programs; working with our clinical setting partners; engaging in scholarship activities (e.g., peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations) related to the discipline; engaging in service activities at the university, professional and community levels; participation at the national and state level in professional organizations and activities; contribution to community well-being through service related to professional and other expertise; and supporting the mission of the program and Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions.

Required Knowledge and Skills

To qualify for the Assistant Professor position, the candidate must have a Master's Degree.
The candidate must:

  •  Hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current Indiana state license.
  • Have a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching, either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements

Standard work hours are 8-4:30 Monday through Friday. Routine local travel up to a 75-mile radius of the USI campus to visit clinical sites is required.

The faculty in the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions work collaboratively with other healthcare professional faculty.
