Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor of Management is responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in management and related disciplines, maintaining an active scholarly research agenda consistent with AACSB accreditation standards, and contributing to service activities within the department, college, university, and profession. The position requires a commitment to student engagement, instructional excellence in both face-to-face and online environments, and collaboration with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders. Areas of teaching may include Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, International Management, Strategic Management, Leadership, Hospitality Management, and Tourism. Faculty are also expected to support curriculum development, participate in assessment and accreditation activities, advise students, and contribute to the continued growth and strategic initiatives of the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business
Work Performed:
In a faculty position in management, the primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate management courses, developing and updating course materials, advising and mentoring students, and assessing student learning outcomes. The faculty member will also conduct scholarly research in management and related fields, publish academic and professional work, and participate in departmental, college, and university service activities such as committees, curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation initiatives. Additional responsibilities include maintaining engagement with current management practices and emerging trends in areas such as leadership, organizational behavior, strategy, human resource management, hospitality management, and tourism. Faculty members may also collaborate with industry and community partners to support experiential learning, workforce development, and student career preparation.
Necessary Qualifications:
Applicants for the management faculty position must hold a doctorate (Ph.D. or DBA) in Management, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Candidates should demonstrate effectiveness in university-level teaching and possess a documented record of scholarly research or clear potential for research productivity in management or related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach in areas such as Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Strategy, Leadership, Hospitality Management, and Tourism. Strong oral and written communication skills, collegiality, and the ability to work effectively with diverse students and colleagues are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include professional industry experience in hospitality management, tourism, lodging, event management, destination management, or related service industries. Preference will also be given to candidates with demonstrated industry engagement, applied managerial experience, or established connections with hospitality and tourism organizations that can support experiential learning, workforce development, and student career preparation.
