PPE LLC, BRENHAM, TEXAS
POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Manager is responsible for achievement of production metrics through overall leadership of production employees and processes, providing general work direction by distributing the workflow within the production department, scheduling, and monitoring work deadlines, and providing input to the Director of Operations/Site Leader. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations/Site Leader and directly leads Production Supervisors overseeing approximately 95 employees across 4 shifts. Additionally, he or she maintains excellent communication with the Planning, Quality, and Supply Chain groups and other operational functions. Responsible to drive training and cross-training in their respective areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for achieving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory (SQDCI) objectives, including on-time delivery (OTD), backlog management, and schedule attainment
  • Leads organizational change initiatives and drives adoption of new processes, systems, and operating standards
  • Hires and develops talent; leads and drives performance management, talent pipeline, and succession planning in Production department
  • Ensures products are manufactured within standard lead times and at standard costs; in the event of variances, determines root cause and implements effective corrective actions
  • Leads structured problem solving using A3, 5 Why, DMAIC, or similar methodologies
  • Utilizes the ERP system (Oracle-JDE) to analyze backlog, facilitate better decision making and drive efficiency
  • Drive OEE improvement through reduction of downtime, scrap, and productivity losses
  • Partners with Maintenance to drive TPM initiatives, equipment reliability, preventative maintenance effectiveness, and uptime performance
  • Collaborates with Supply Chain to proactively manage inventory to increase turns
  • Supports Production Supervisors in managing team KPIs, enforcing company policy, and partnering with HR to ensure high job satisfaction
  • Takes actions to allocate resources, train employees, and close internal skill gaps
  • Cultivates employee involvement by positively empowering employees to be active participants in lean (5S, Kaizen, standard work, visual management), quality, and safety initiatives
  • Drives the adoption of 80/20 methodology and continuous improvement to increase capacity and reduce operating costs
  • Leads tiered Daily Management activities and operational review processes across production areas, escalating issues and driving effective problem resolution
  • Analyzes data and implements best practices to reduce order lead time, improve production planning, and increase operational capacity
  • May lead or contribute to special projects as required by the business

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing / Technology, or equivalent preferred
  • 5+ years manufacturing leadership experience including supervision of supervisors and responsibility for production performance metrics
  • Must be adept in the following areas:
    • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement leadership
    • KPI and operational performance management
    • Employee engagement and leadership development
    • ERP/MRP proficiency (planning experience a plus)
    • Problem-solving and root cause methodology
    • Cross-functional collaboration
    • Change leadership
    • Capacity planning and resource optimization
  • Must possess necessary interpersonal skills, written, verbal and other technical skills to properly direct, assist and train personnel.
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience working with site certifications such as ISO9001 and ISO14001
