Job description

State 8 Motorcycles is an established powersports dealer group seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant / HR Assistant to support our accounting operations, employee administration, and dealership business processes.

This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting or bookkeeping experience who enjoys accuracy, organization, and working across departments. You will work closely with management, sales, service, and parts teams to help keep our financial systems, employee records, and dealership workflows running smoothly.

Job Type: Full-time
Work Location: On-site – Peninsula OH
Compensation: $40,000–$60,000 annually, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Administration

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, account reconciliations, and data entry.
  • Assist with month-end close, including preparation of monthly financial statements, schedules, and variance reports.
  • Perform account analysis and help identify discrepancies, trends, and follow-up items.
  • Maintain accurate vendor, customer, and internal accounting records.
  • Assist with audit support, documentation requests, and financial reporting as needed.
  • Ensure accounting information is entered accurately, consistently, and on time.

Dealership Support

  • Serve as backup support for vehicle title processing, warranty registration, and related sales documentation.
  • Coordinate with the sales department to ensure accurate paperwork, titling, and registration support.
  • Provide backup cashier support, including payment processing, receipts, and customer transaction documentation.
  • Cross-train in related dealership administrative functions to support business continuity.

HR Administration

  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding, including offer letters, background checks, employee paperwork, and new-hire orientation.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and support accurate personnel file management.
  • Help ensure dealership policies, employee records, and administrative practices remain organized and compliant with applicable labor and safety requirements.
  • Support management with HR-related administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, office administration, or dealership accounting experience.
  • Prior dealership, automotive, marine, RV, or powersports experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with spreadsheets, reports, and financial data.
  • Experience with dealership management systems or ERPs such as Lightspeed, CDK, Dealertrack, QuickBooks, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information with professionalism.
  • Comfortable communicating with managers and team members across sales, service, parts, accounting, and administration.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-moving dealership environment.
