Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years we have expanded throughout the Midwest.

Job Summary

The Day/LTL Operations Manager will execute, direct, and coordinate shipments into and out of the organization.

Hours and Wages
  • Exempt salary position
  • Starting wage: $70,000-$92,500 per year, based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this role
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Oversee and ensure all day-to-day operations are completed
  • Plan and organize daily activities related to production and operations
  • Measure productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports
  • Ensure customer complaints are investigated and resolved
  • Identify, recommend and implement measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, work methods, and customer service
  • Enforce safety, DOT, and company policies
  • Analyze route performance to ensure it is being performed properly and freight is distributed appropriately
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructiveLead weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
  • Handle and participate in investigating employee concerns
  • Identify and elevate all operational concerns to appropriate management
  • Determine labor needs to meet production goals
  • Hire, train, discipline, and onboard new staff
  • Periodic travel may be required
  • Perform other required duties as assigned
Skills And Abilities
  • Excellent management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to influence, develop and maintain good working relationships across a variety of functional areas and customers
  • Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local and company safety policies
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including meeting deadlines and achieving results
  • Proficient with computer-based management systems and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Education And Experience
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Logistics or Operations Management or related field preferred
  • Must hold or obtain a valid forklift certification
  • Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program
  • 3+ years of experience in the transportation industry and leadership preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
