Assistant Grounds Manager

Pike's Waterfront Lodge · Fairbanks, Alaska

Pike's Waterfront Lodge is seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Grounds Manager to join our team. This role supports the day-to-day upkeep and beautification of our lodge property, ensuring our guests experience pristine surroundings year-round in the heart of Alaska.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Grounds Manager in overseeing daily maintenance of lodge exterior, landscaping, and outdoor facilities
  • Perform lawn care, planting, pruning, and seasonal clean-up tasks
  • Operate and maintain grounds equipment including mowers and hand tools
  • Work outdoors in varying and rapidly changing weather conditions typical of the Alaskan environment
  • Provide routine care for lodge resident ducks and reindeer, including daily feeding and clean-up of animal areas
  • Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure seamless property upkeep
  • Monitor and report any property damage, hazards, or needed repairs
  • Assist in supervising and scheduling grounds crew members
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in summer grounds work, including lawn maintenance and planting
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively outdoors in rapidly changing weather conditions
  • Familiarity with landscaping best practices in cold-climate environments
  • Ability to operate grounds equipment safely; valid driver's license required
  • Availability to work weekends as required by lodge operations
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Supervisory experience a plus
