Job description

S3 Solutions One, LLC is seeking an experienced and dependable Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform scheduled landscaping and lawn-care services at a federal facility in Corpus Christi, Texas.

This is a part-time, intermittent W-2 position with work scheduled according to required service events rather than a fixed weekly schedule. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Authorization is confirmed through E-Verify.


The selected employee must provide and maintain the commercial grounds-maintenance equipment necessary to perform the work. This position may be a good fit for an experienced lawn-care professional or small landscaping operator seeking additional scheduled work.


Compensation

Compensation is based on completed service events and includes an allowance for the use of employee-furnished commercial grounds-maintenance equipment.


Service Estimated Annual Frequency & Compensation:


Routine Grounds Maintenance Service

Approx. 40 events per year

$200 per completed service


Fertilizer Application Add-On

4 events per year

$50 additional per event


Pruning / Tree & Shrub Trimming Add-On

2 events per year

$100 additional per event


A Routine Grounds Maintenance Service includes mowing, edging, string trimming, blowing and cleanup, litter and debris removal, routine weed control, fire-ant treatment as required, and related grounds-maintenance duties.


The service compensation includes an equipment allowance associated with the use of employee-owned commercial equipment, fuel, routine maintenance, wear items, and transportation of equipment to and from the worksite.


All hours worked must be accurately recorded. S3 will administer payroll and employee compensation in accordance with applicable federal and state requirements.


Work Schedule

Service frequency varies by season:

  • April through October: approximately once per week
  • March, November, and December: approximately every two weeks
  • January and February: approximately once per month


Work is generally performed Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

This position does not have a guaranteed number of weekly hours. Actual service dates and quantities may vary based on contract requirements, weather conditions, seasonal growth, and authorized direction from S3 management.


Primary Duties

The Grounds Maintenance Worker will be responsible for:

  • Mowing designated lawn and grass areas
  • Edging sidewalks, curbs, driveways, and paved surfaces
  • String trimming around buildings, trees, shrubs, signs, poles, fences, and other obstacles
  • Blowing and cleaning sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, curbs, and paved surfaces
  • Removing litter, branches, grass clippings, and other debris
  • Transporting and disposing of grounds debris offsite as required
  • Maintaining landscaped and gravel areas free of weeds
  • Performing routine weed-control and fire-ant treatment as required
  • Applying fertilizer during scheduled service periods
  • Pruning and trimming shrubs, hedges, and small trees during scheduled service periods
  • Inspecting completed work before leaving the facility
  • Completing required service documentation
  • Reporting site conditions, damage, safety concerns, or Government requests to S3 management


Employee-Provided Equipment Required

Applicants must own or have reliable access to commercial grounds-maintenance equipment suitable for completing the required work.

Equipment should include, as applicable:

  • Commercial mower suitable for the property
  • String trimmer / weed eater
  • Powered edger
  • Backpack or handheld blower
  • Hedge trimmer
  • Pole pruner or pole saw
  • Hand pruners and loppers
  • Rakes, shovels, brooms, and other customary landscaping hand tools
  • Fuel containers and ordinary operating supplies
  • Trailer or other means of transporting equipment to and from the worksite

Employee-furnished equipment must be safe, properly maintained, serviceable, and appropriate for commercial grounds-maintenance work.


Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • Previous professional or commercial grounds-maintenance experience
  • Experience safely operating commercial lawn and landscaping equipment
  • Ownership of or reliable access to the equipment necessary to perform assigned services
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned work with limited onsite supervision
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to transport required equipment
  • Dependable attendance and the ability to perform services according to an established schedule
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, sunlight, and varying weather conditions
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver landscaping equipment, debris, and supplies
  • Ability to follow equipment instructions, safety procedures, product labels, and SDS requirements
  • Ability to communicate professionally with S3 management and Government personnel
  • Ability to meet applicable federal facility access and background requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. E-Verify is utilized.


Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

  • Perform outdoor grounds-maintenance work for extended periods
  • Walk and stand on grass, pavement, gravel, slopes, and uneven terrain
  • Frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements
  • Safely operate powered lawn and landscaping equipment
  • Lift and carry equipment, branches, debris, and supplies weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
  • Work around dust, pollen, grass clippings, insects, fertilizers, and approved lawn-care products while using appropriate personal protective equipment


The employee is responsible for appropriate work pants and safe work shoes or boots suitable for outdoor grounds-maintenance activities.
