Position Title: Assistant Golf Coach

Department: Athletics

Supervisor: Director of Golf

FLSA Status: Exempt

General Job Function:

The Assistant Golf Coach supports the head coach in all aspects of managing a

collegiate golf program, including recruiting, player development, practice planning, and

administrative duties. This role helps foster a competitive, disciplined, and positive team

culture while ensuring compliance with institutional and governing body rules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coaching & Player Development

  • Assist in planning and conducting team practices, workouts, and qualifying rounds
  • Provide technical instruction on swing mechanics, short game, course management, and mental performance
  • Help analyze player performance using video and data tools
  • Support strength, conditioning, and overall athlete development

Recruiting

  • Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes
  • Communicate with recruits, families, and high school/junior coaches
  • Assist with campus visits and recruiting events
  • Maintain recruiting database and follow compliance guidelines

Tournament & Travel Management

  • Help organize team travel, lodging, and tournament logistics
  • Assist with lineup decisions and tournament preparation
  • Provide on-course coaching during competitions

Academic & Player Support

  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress
  • Promote accountability, time management, and personal growth
  • Support compliance with academic and eligibility requirements

Administrative Duties

  • Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and equipment management
  • Coordinate fundraising activities and alumni relations (if applicable)
  • Manage social media or program communications
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA/NAIA and institutional rules

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Competitive golf experience (college level preferred)
  • Knowledge of swing instruction and player development principles
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to recruit and build relationships
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently
  • Experience with launch monitors (TrackMan, GC3, etc.)
  • Familiarity with recruiting software and video analysis tools
  • Understanding of NCAA or NAIA compliance rules
  • Experience coaching or teaching golf lessons
