Job description

Under the direction of the Program Director, the Assistant Golf Coach will implement/assist with the provided curriculum to The First Tee of Tampa Bay participants in all programs offered. The Assistant Golf Coach will assist the lead golf instructor on site during programming including Group Lessons, Short Course Club, Advanced Team, and the P.E. Player program if needed. The Assistant Golf Coach will help the lead instructor implement the 9 core values and life lessons of The First Tee. The Assistant Golf Coach will work with the Program Director and Golf & Life Skills Program Lead to provide year-long programming within The First Tee of Tampa Bay. This position will primarily support Saturday programming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engages with program participants, parents, and staff in a positive and professional manner delivering the highest levels of quality and service.
  • Assists the Golf Coach in the delivery of assigned programs as scheduled by the Program Director or Supervisor.
  • Supports and participates in developing a positive and professional team culture that emphasizes good sportsmanship
  • Assists the Golf Coach in the set up of program related activities and skills stations.
  • Assists in the delivery programming adherent to Association policies and procedures.
  • Conducts oneself in a manner consistent to First Tee and Association expectations around professionalism, including language and attitude.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures regarding the safety, health and welfare of participants; reports emergency situations to a direct supervisor or other Program leader, in accordance to facility policies and certification requirements.
  • Attends and actively participates in all trainings and staff meetings as assigned.

Program Quality and Growth

  • Assists in the Implementation of program curriculum and coordinated activities and logistics, ensuring a quality program is offered to students, delivering all The First Tee of Tampa Bay curriculum.

Safety and Risk Management

  • Adhere to all Federal, State, and local safety regulations, as well as all YMCA policies and procedures related to the safety, health, and welfare of members, participants, guests, and staff.
  • Ensure that all Tampa YMCA standards, leading practices, and policies are implemented and consistently followed, including those related to emergency procedures, child abuse prevention, and appropriate supervision.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising participants and boundaries with participants when applicable.
  • Ensure implementation of and follows all training requirements including risk management and child abuse prevention training in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment at all times, including performing daily safety checks of program areas, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintain proper records, including certifications, meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain an emphasis on safety in all areas of responsibility as they relate to members and staff.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful environment for members, guests, and staff.
  • Promptly report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior, as well as policy violations, following established association procedures.
