Cenveo is a leading North American manufacturer of envelopes with more than 100 years of industry experience and approximately 30 billion envelopes produced annually. We are committed to safety, quality, and operational excellence. We are hiring an experienced Assistant Plant Controller for our Cleveland, OH manufacturing facility.
Job Summary
The Assistant Plant Controller supports the Regional Controller in managing all plant-level financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong cost controls, and compliance within a high-volume envelope-manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with production, supply chain, and operations leadership to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly plant financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness - Assist with month end close analysis
  • Accounts Payable Processing and Approvals - ensure timely payments to vendors
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory controls for raw materials, WIP, and finished envelopes; support cycle counts and reconciliations
  • Adhoc Reporting - support local GM with financial requests, provide daily KPIs
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and financial modeling
  • Production & Operations Support: Partner with plant leadership to evaluate production metrics, labor utilization, scrap, and efficiency trends
  • Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure adherence to corporate policies, audit requirements, and financial controls
  • ERP & Systems Management: Support financial processes within JD Edwards/One Max, including reporting, cost updates, and data integrity
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows and strengthen operational performance

Pay & Work Schedule
  • Annual Pay Range: 85K - 90K depending on experience
  • Flexibility is required to support business needs
  • For information purposes, production shifts are as follows:
    • 1st: 7:15am - 3:30pm (Mon - Fri; Sat as business needs dictate)
    • 2nd: 3:25pm - 11:25pm (Mon - Fri; Sat as business needs dictate)
    • 3rd: 11:20pm - 7:20am (Sun - Thurs; Fri as business needs dictate)

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing finance or cost accounting; paper converting or envelope manufacturing preferred
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
  • Proficiency with JD Edwards, One Max, and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to analyze complex data and communicate insights clearly to plant leadership
  • Effective communicator and collaborator with various levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Continuous improvement mindset and strong problem-solving abilities

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions, including dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, and temperature variations.
  • Occasional standing/walking during inventory counts or operational reviews
  • Occasional travel may be required.
