Job Description:
The Assistant Controller supports the corporate and operational accounting functions of Kokosing, a diversified construction and infrastructure services organization. This role partners closely with the Controller and finance leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient close processes. The Assistant Controller plays a key role in executing accounting operations, supporting consolidation and reporting activities, and driving consistency across business units.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for completeness and accuracy
  • Assist in preparation of consolidated financial statements and internal management reporting
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting, including SOX-related controls where applicable
  • Partner with business unit finance teams to ensure consistent accounting practices across the organization
  • Assist with external and internal audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor requests
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes through collaboration with FP&A and operational teams
  • Drive process improvements in accounting operations, systems, and reporting workflows
  • Participate in finance transformation initiatives, including system implementations and standardization efforts
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA required or actively pursuing certification
  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred
  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, or multi-entity environments preferred
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and advanced Excel skills required
