Job description

Position Overview

Kyntronics is seeking a part-time Controller to oversee our accounting team and support the next phase of Kyntronics growth in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and defense actuation systems. This role is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions. Reporting to the President, the Controller will provide accurate and timely financial information, strengthen financial processes and partner with the senior leadership team.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting expertise with hands-on management experience in a manufacturing environment and is comfortable working in a dynamic, growth-oriented organization. It is envisioned this role will be the equivalent of 1 – 2 days average per week with flexible hours primarily on-site with some remote work.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting

·         Oversee accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, cost accounting, and cash management.

·         Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and KPIs in accordance with U.S. GAAP to support executive decision-making.

·         Monitor financial performance against plan, including providing variance analysis to the management team and participate with implementing corrective actions as needed.

·         Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance and financial accountability with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.

·         Prepare the bi-weekly payroll and record payroll, tax, and insurance GL entries.

·         Prepare the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.

·         Prepare cash flow forecasts and working capital analyses.

·         Oversee banking activity, review bank statements and provide credit oversight.

·         Manage insurances for proper coverage and cost-effectiveness.

·         Support ROI analysis on new product development and other projects.

·         Maintain accurate project/product costing and inventory valuation systems. Support quoting activity as required.

·         Work with Purchasing and Operations to reduce SLOB inventory and invest in higher-turnover inventory to support growth and customer service.

·         Analyze manufacturing costs, labor utilization, overhead absorption, and product margins to improve profitability.

·         Interface with the Kyntronics Board of Directors as needed.

·         Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.

·         Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and insurance providers.

·         Provide oversight for the accounting team.

·         Collaborate closely with executive leadership to support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, financing activities, and operational improvements.

·         Administer the 401K plan and provide timely DOL reporting requirements.

·         Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education

·         Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

·         CPA certification is strongly preferred.

·         MBA a plus.

Experience

·         7 - 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.

·         Minimum of 3 years in an Assistant Controller or Senior Accounting role.

·         Experience within manufacturing or industrial companies required.

Technical Skills

·         Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.

·         Manufacturing cost accounting expertise.

·         Budgeting, financial planning and reporting experience.

·         ERP system experience (e.g., E2, Epicor, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).

·         Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, AI tools, Office 365.
