Description
Rice Companies is looking for an Assistant Estimator to join the team at our Glencoe, MN location. An Assistant Estimator is responsible for assisting in all estimating functions, take offs, soliciting bids, and assembling estimates. The estimator works closely with other estimators, assisting in RFP's, hard bids, and other project related activities.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with estimators, project managers, architects, and others in a design/ build, team environment pursuing projects and responding to RFP's.
  • Review and analyze subcontractor scope and bid
  • Review plans and estimates with the project team
  • Build and maintains effective relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other Rice Companies employees.
  • Subcontractor, vendor, and supplier bid solicitation.
  • Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and other criteria to provide detailed estimates and back-up.
  • Utilize company approved costing methodology, data, and systems to present estimate results in a detailed breakdown format suitable for use by the project manager and the project team.
  • Prepare detailed quantity lists and take-offs.

Qualifications:
Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
  • Working towards 2-4-year degree or certification in Construction Mgmt., Estimating or related field.
  • Experience with Sage/ Timberline estimating, On-Screen takeoff tools and/ or other industry standard estimating software preferred.
  • Must be proactive and skilled in detailed follow-up.
  • Flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving.
  • A desire for continuous improvement and close collaboration
  • Ability to communicate, both written and verbally in a professional manner
