Job description

Job Type:Regular

At Agropur, every role exists to deliver concrete results. What matters is real impact, not the volume of activity.

Agropur is looking for an automation engineer to join its team in St-Laurent.

Reporting to the maintenance manager, the automation engineer is responsible for the maintenance, design, implementation, and optimization of the factory's automated systems. This key role directly contributes to the efficiency of production lines, compliance with hygiene standards, and equipment reliability in a regulated dairy environment.

An environment that allows you to focus on what truly matters:

  • Vacation entitlement based on recognition of years of service
  • Flexible group insurance plan including telemedicine
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Opportunities to invest in your development (career growth, etc.)
  • Pension plan with employer contributions
  • Salary Scale 005: $84,600 to $105,800 (Base salary will be determined according to your academic background, experience, training, and positionrelated competencies.)

Your role in achieving results:

  • Diagnose and resolve failures in automated systems to minimize production downtime and ensure operational continuity.
  • Ensure compliance with standards for the site's electrical installations.
  • Maintain, design, program, and optimize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and SCADA systems on process, packaging, and filling lines.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects in automation (Lean, Kaizen) in collaboration with the production, maintenance, and quality teams.
  • Manage CAPEX automation projects in collaboration with the site project manager.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation: electrical schematics and change logs.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers of equipment and components.
  • Occasionally supervise subcontractors' work on projects.
  • Train production and maintenance staff on automated equipment.
  • Two-week on-call period every four weeks (responsible for 24/7 emergency calls regarding automation and control systems for the plant).

What we are looking for to deliver these results:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related field.
  • Member of the OIQ.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in industrial automation.
  • Proficiency in PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), SCADA (Ignition, FactoryTalk View, Aveva/Wonderware), and robotics (FANUC, ABB, and Kuka).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English (English is required to collaborate with colleagues from other Canadian provinces).

A role for those who want to contribute to measurable and sustainable results.

People are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in working together, speaking honestly, taking ownership, and creating value in everything we deliver. Our culture is built on collaboration, accountability, and a shared commitment to growing stronger together. Joining the team means being part of an environment where people support each other and take pride in making a real impact.

Agropur welcomes people from all backgrounds and origins.
