Covia is looking for a dynamic Plant Engineer, who will have a positive impact on the Operations team the Junction City Plant located at Junction City, GA.
The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:
  • Be a safety leader
  • Emphasize and prioritize safety with plant personnel. Ensure safety protocols are being followed and offer ideas where safety procedures can be enhanced
  • Collaborate with production on manufacturing processes, including identifying areas where improvements would increase safety and production
  • Identify deficiencies and bottlenecks in Plant processes and propose solutions to improve plant performance
  • Develop scope of work documents for plant projects
  • Manage and lead internal projects, working with multiple departments and contractors
  • Develop training documents and manuals for newly implemented equipment and circuits
  • Support the Maintenance department with equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis on equipment failures
  • Assist Engineering department with plant and equipment audits
  • Coach hourly employees on new and existing plant processes and equipment to improve their work efficiency and knowledge
  • Track and Monitor plant performance and KPI's
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Management to prioritize capital projects and spending
  • Update plant process flowsheets and diagrams
  • Complete annual dust collection flow audits to ensure systems are meeting requirements and recommend areas of improvement
  • Provide operational oversight when Production Supervisors are on vacation
  • Complete other tasks as assigned
  • Independent project-based work to identify process improvement areas and develop enhancement plans which meet all safety, environmental, operating, and market quality objectives
  • Work with maintenance on predictive and preventative maintenance programs for all areas of the plant
  • Lead in the process improvement of all plant functions with support of Plant Management and other Covia departments
  • Carry out the Plant's policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an Engineering field required
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or mining engineering preferred
  • 2-3 years' experience in an Engineering position required
  • Must possess strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
