What is an assistant email management?

Assistant Email Management roles involve handling and organizing email communications for individuals or organizations. This typically includes sorting incoming emails, responding to general inquiries, flagging important messages, unsubscribing from spam, and maintaining a clean and efficient inbox. Assistants may also schedule meetings, set reminders, and draft professional correspondence. The goal is to streamline email workflows and ensure timely responses, freeing up time for other tasks.

What are some common challenges faced in an assistant email management role, and how can candidates prepare for them?

One common challenge in Assistant Email Management is efficiently handling a high volume of emails while ensuring important messages are prioritized and responded to promptly. Candidates should be comfortable using email filtering tools, managing multiple inboxes, and maintaining strong organizational skills to stay on top of communications. DescriptionOwn the Last Mile of the Customer Message

You’ll work closely with the Marketing team to plan, coordinate, schedule, test, analyze, and optimize email and SMS communications. You won’t be responsible for creating all of the creative content, but you will help make sure the right message reaches the right customer, at the right time, and performs as intended.

This is a highly collaborative role for someone who enjoys working with data, following established processes, solving problems, and turning campaign results into actionable recommendations.

What You’ll Do

Own the Email & SMS Channels

  • Serve as the primary owner and final checkpoint for Fleet Farm email and SMS communications.
  • Link, schedule, test, and coordinate email and text campaigns before they are released to customers.
  • Follow established processes carefully and ensure communications are accurate, timely, and brand appropriate.
  • Help protect the Fleet Farm brand by identifying errors or issues before campaigns are sent.

Support Marketing Planning

  • Participate in marketing planning meetings and help coordinate the email and SMS calendar.
  • Work with marketing partners to understand upcoming promotions, campaigns, and customer communications.
  • Help ensure email and SMS messaging is aligned with broader marketing priorities.

Analyze Performance

  • Monitor email and SMS performance and provide reporting and insights to the Marketing team.
  • Analyze metrics such as engagement, click-through rates, conversions, unsubscribes, and other channel performance measures.
  • Use Excel, Google Analytics, Listrak, and other reporting tools to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Partner with Listrak to develop and improve dashboards and reporting.
  • Support customer segmentation and targeting strategies.
  • Coordinate ongoing A/B testing of messaging, timing, audiences, and other campaign variables.
  • Review results, draw conclusions from the data, and recommend ways to improve future campaigns.

Support SMS Content

  • Assist with copywriting for text messages when needed.
  • Review messaging for accuracy, clarity, timing, and brand consistency.

Ensure Compliance

  • Help ensure email and SMS communications follow applicable requirements and internal standards, including CAN-SPAM and TCPA.
  • Follow established procedures and approval processes for customer communications.

Collaborate Across the Team

  • Partner with Marketing, CRM, Credit & Loyalty, Finance, Merchandising, and other business teams.
  • Work closely with the Email Service Provider and internal partners to resolve issues and improve campaign execution.
  • Be willing to pitch in and cross-train in other areas of the Marketing organization as business needs evolve.
What You Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in email marketing, digital marketing, marketing analytics, CRM, or a related field.
  • Experience working with email or SMS campaigns and marketing analytics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with spreadsheets and reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dependable, responsible, and comfortable working within established processes.
  • Ability to listen, follow direction, and consistently execute accurately.
  • Comfortable working in a professional office environment and collaborating with a team.
Experience With These Tools Is a Plus
  • Listrak
  • HubSpot
  • Google Analytics
  • Microsoft Excel / Microsoft Office
  • Smartsheet
  • CRM or marketing automation platforms

Bonus: Experience with customer loyalty, credit card programs, CRM, or related financial/customer marketing is highly valued.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means our email and SMS communications go out accurately, on time, and with the right message to the right customer . You’ll become the person the team trusts to catch issues, keep campaigns moving, understand the data, and bring forward ideas that improve customer engagement and business results.

Why Join Fleet Farm?

You’ll be part of a supportive Marketing team that values collaboration, positive intent, and helping one another succeed. This position sits within a larger Marketing organization of approximately 30 employees, giving you opportunities to learn from and work with professionals across multiple areas of the business.
