Job Summary
The Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment (IDA+A) office is seeking an Assistant Director of Analytics. This position provides leadership and oversight for financial aid reporting, analytics, and data strategy, supporting institutional decision-making, regulatory reporting, and operational effectiveness.
Reporting to senior leadership within IDA+A, this role is responsible for directing a team of analysts and overseeing the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of financial aid data, reports, and analytical insights. The Assistant Director partners closely with Financial Aid and campus stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, well-defined, and effectively used to support student access, affordability, and institutional priorities.
This position plays a key role in aligning financial aid data practices with institutional standards for data quality, governance, and reporting, while driving innovation and proces improvement across the analytics lifecycle. Fully remote and hybrid work options are available. For full consideration an attached cover letter and resume is required.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight
  • Direct and supervise a team of analysts responsible for financial aid reporting and analytics
  • Establish priorities, assign work, and monitor progress to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to support staff development and growth
  • Ensure alignment of team activities with IDA+A and institutional priorities

Financial Aid Reporting & Analytics
  • Oversee the development and delivery of financial aid reports, dashboards, and datasets for operational strategic, and regulatory use
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and transparency in financial aid data and reporting outputs
  • Translate financial aid policies, business rules, and regulatory requirements into clear and sustainable analytical solutions
  • Guide complex analysis related to financial aid awarding, packaging, student outcomes, and institutional strategy.

Strategic Partnership
  • Serve as the primary analytics partner for Financial Aid and related functional areas
  • Develop a deep understanding of financial aid processes, data, and reporting needs
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize work, and deliver actionable insights
  • Support leadership decision-making through clear, concise, and audience-appropriate communication of findings

Data Quality, Governance & Standards
  • Establish and maintain standards for data quality, validation, documentation, and reporting practices within financial aid reporting
  • Oversee identification and resolution of complex data quality issues across systems and domains
  • Partner with data governance and technical teams to improve data processes and definitions
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements

Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data accessibility, and analytical approaches
  • Drive adoption of best practices in documentation, validation, and data stewardship
  • Support development of scalable, sustainable data solutions that reduce manual effort and improve consistency
  • Encourage use of new tools and approaches that enhance analytical efficiency and impact

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Six or more years of experience in analytics, reporting, or institutional research
  • Experience supervising or leading staff in a professional setting
  • Experience managing complex projects and priorities
  • Strong ability to translate business needs into analytical and technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, including presenting to leadership and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working with sensitive or regulated data
  • Proficiency with BI tools

What Is Helpful:
  • Experience with financial aid data, systems, or regulatory reporting
  • Experience in higher education data or institutional research environments
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Experience with Cognos, Tableau, SQL, and/or statistical tools (R. Python, SAS)
