JOB SUMMARY

This role is designed as a training and growth opportunity for individuals interested in advancing into site supervision. Working under the guidance of a Construction Supervisor, you’ll gain the knowledge and leadership experience needed to eventually manage projects independently. You’ll help oversee daily activities while also performing hands-on construction tasks, learning through mentorship and collaboration. Location varies by project, typically Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support daily jobsite operations, including safety, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and quality.
  • Collaborate with the project team to maintain an accurate schedule and ensure timely execution.
  • Champion Chapman’s programs related to safety, quality, sustainability, and respectful workplace culture.
  • Contribute to quality results while providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Represent Chapman with professionalism and courtesy when working with owners, architects, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Assist with subcontractor coordination and support the Construction Supervisor in running subcontractor meetings.
  • Build strong relationships with team members through communication and problem-solving.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and assist in layout or installation as directed by supervisors.
  • Perform hands-on tasks as needed, such as installing partitions, doors, frames, and interior finishes.
  • Use hand and power tools, levels, framing squares, and laser equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform other functions as required to support the project team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of construction-related experience preferred; however, if you bring motivation, leadership potential, or related experience (e.g., service work, carpentry, or facilities), we’d still like to hear from you
  • Commitment to continued learning through company-sponsored training, field staff meetings, coursework, or certifications
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Basic understanding of construction plans and specifications
  • Comfortable using personal computers and basic software
  • Ability to complete Adult CPR/First Aid and OSHA 30 training within one year (company-supported)

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Field-based role with regular activity on active construction sites
  • Frequent standing, walking, and use of tools/equipment; occasional climbing, kneeling, sitting, or crouching
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Vision requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Work may involve outdoor conditions, construction noise, dust, and other typical site exposures (protective equipment provided)
  • Occasional assistance with site cleanup, deliveries, or light demolition
  • Travel to project sites (up to ~60 miles each way)
