Position Overview: Assistant Construction Manager

  • Position Title: Assistant Construction Manager

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Jobsite Supervision

  • Direct daily on-site operations across multiple residential and multi-family project sites, ensuring strict adherence to schedule, scope, quality, and safety standards.
  • Supervise trade partners and specialty subcontractors to drive productivity, resolve field conflicts, and maintain high construction standards.
  • Enforce rigorous jobsite OSHA safety protocols and compliance measures for all field personnel and trades.

Material, Logistics & Vendor Coordination

  • Manage project delivery schedules, expediting materials and staging equipment to prevent jobsite downtime.
  • Review and approve material, equipment, and subcontractor invoices against established project budgets and cost codes.
  • Serve as the day-to-day liaison between builder clients, project superintendents, municipal inspectors, and utility vendors.

Job Cost Tracking & Margin Control

  • Review scopes of work to monitor project expenses, mitigating cost overruns and identifying margin optimization opportunities.
  • Track job-cost codes, manage field changes, and ensure accurate labor and material allocations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of progressive hands-on field supervision or project management experience within residential construction, multi-family builder services, concrete, masonry, or civil/site work.
  • Field Mobility: Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record (daily travel to local jobsites is required).
  • Technical & Financial Skills: Solid foundation in construction math, plan reading, budget tracking, and standard mobile/tablet field applications (iPad/laptop).
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution abilities, capable of building collaborative partnerships with builder clients, field crews, and suppliers.
