ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR (Queens, NY 11385)
Starting Pay: $29.47/hr.

Pay Progression:

  • Assistant Conductor/Trainee — $29.47/hr.
  • Assistant Conductor — $29.47/hr. + $1,500 bonus
  • Yard Qualified Conductor — $32.01/hr.
  • Qualified Conductor, LIRR BOR — $34.56/hr. + $1,500 bonus
  • Qualified Conductor, LIRR PC — $38.79/hr. + $1,500 bonus
  • Yard Qualified Certified Engineer/Conductor — $39.47/hr. + $1,500 bonus
  • Fully Qualified Certified Engineer/Conductor — $40.16/hr. + $1,500 bonus

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist conductors with train operations and passenger service activities
  • Provide customer assistance and information to passengers
  • Support safe and efficient boarding and exiting of passengers
  • Make announcements and communicate travel information to customers
  • Follow railroad operating rules and safety procedures
  • Work with conductors, engineers, and other transportation personnel
  • Complete the Assistant Conductor training program
  • Pass the Assistant Conductor LIRR written examination

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to successfully complete the 8–10 week classroom training program
  • Ability to pass the Assistant Conductor LIRR written examination
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to interact professionally with passengers and coworkers
