Salary: $31,200.00 - $46,800.00 Annually Location : Brevard, NC Job Type: Full-time Staff Job Number: 26-211 Division: Transylvania County Campus Opening Date: 04/01/2026 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Non-Exempt Description The Transylvania Campus's Facilities and Grounds Technician is responsible for performing facilities maintenance duties and maintaining grounds and outdoor areas. Examples of Duties
  • Maintains appearances of building interior by daily cleaning e.g. cleaning bathrooms, dusting, washing white boards, emptying trash containers, vacuuming, mopping.
  • Shampoos carpet and waxes floors as needed.
  • Removes and replaces light bulbs, ceiling tiles, white boards as needed.
  • Assists faculty and staff in setting up classrooms and equipment for various functions.
  • Works with county maintenance in performing maintenance and repairs on electrical, air conditioning, heating, carpentry, and plumbing.
  • Performs general equipment maintenance.
  • Maintains the grounds/gardens in good condition, both horticulturally and aesthetically.
  • Performs some or all of the functions involved with the care of grounds/gardens such as:
Planting, dividing, and transplanting flowers, shrubs, and groundcovers Weeding, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control of shrubs and flowers; Fertilizing, mowing, and trimming of lawn areas as needed; Removing litter, twigs, leaves, and other materials. Maintains walkways and parking lot by picking up litter and removing snow and ice as needed.
  • Performs all services with attention to the safety and security of the college.
  • Must be able to lift and move heavy loads and operate heavy floor cleaning equipment.
  • Be available for occasional work on weekends.
  • Represents the Transylvania Center at meetings when appropriate.
  • Maintains the technical competencies necessary to the job function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Must have high school diploma or equivalent and a valid NC driver's license. Must have relevant experience in a workplace environment.
