Director of Operations for Colonial Life Arena and Coliseum, reports to the Senior Assistant General Manager for CLA. Position provides overall administrative planning, direction and policy creation and interpretation to operating managers, assuring the highest quality service. Ensures an effective and cost-efficient program by controlling departmental operating budget. Manages, supervises and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the facility, including engineering, maintenance, set-up/changeovers, custodial, housekeeping and grounds keeping.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 5 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using CAD (Computer-Aided Drafting), for the purpose of building seating diagrams and rigging points.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements. Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Ability to multi-task under time limits. 
  • Attention to precise details.

Manage the development and administration of the Operations Department budget; forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures, implementing adjustments as necessary. Major focus on cost-saving measures, including utilities.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff with an emphasis on building a cohesive operations team and promoting clear communications and cooperation among departments.

Plan, direct, coordinate and review work plan for CLA and Coliseum maintenance and operations. Meet with staff to identify and resolve problems, assign work activities, projects and programs, monitor work flow, review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures.

Oversee the operation of event set-up and tear-down, i.e. basketball floor, stage risers, chairs, signs, dasher boards, etc.
