Job Description Summary
The University of La Verne's College of Health and Community Well-Being invites applications for a full-time, ten-month, non-tenure-track Instructor position to begin with the 2026-2027 academic year. This year-to-year position will be responsible for supporting the successful implementation and operation of the University of La Verne's Certified Wellness Coach Education Program funded through the Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) initiative. This position is housed within the undergraduate Psychology program and would focus on the development of the Wellness Coaching Minor and serve as internship coordinator for all undergraduate programs in Psychology. The annual appointment is initially a one-year appointment, renewable based on the evolving needs of Wellness Coach program and the College.
  • Teaching 6 courses per year in the areas of Psychology, with a particular emphasis on courses in applied areas that relate to Social Work.
  • Coordinate with qualifying placement sites, internship partners, clinical/community-based organizations, and employment agencies to facilitate student experiential learning opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships that support student workforce readiness and employment opportunities.
  • Support post-graduate employment activities, including job readiness, career navigation, and transition into the workforce. Provide academic advising and individualized student support to promote retention, persistence, and successful completion.
  • Assist students in developing educational and career plans aligned with wellness coaching pathways.
  • Identify and connect students to academic, personal, and professional support resources as needed. Service on committees in the college and university.
  • Assist with tracking graduate outcomes, workforce placement, and post-program success metrics.

Review of applications will begin August 1, 2026 and continue until the position is filled. Applicants should submit a cover letter of interest describing their teaching philosophy and research agenda, curriculum vita, representative publications, evidence of teaching experience, and a list of three professional references. Selected candidate is expected to obtain licensure in California by tenure.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D./Ed.D./J.D.
  • Doctoral degree in applied psychology or a related field;
  • Licensed or license eligible in CA in an area of applied Psychology or a related field;
  • Demonstrated teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in applied psychology
  • Training or expertise in at least one of the following areas: Community Mental Health, Social Work, Child/adolescent mental health, Career Counseling, Telehealth/Technology informed intervention;
  • Applicants who have obtained licensure as in applied psychology;
  • Applicants with expertise in establishing and maintaining internship/practicum sites.
