Job description

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
In accordance with association and branch policies, the building supervisor is responsible for ensuring a safe, smooth-running facility, providing exceptional customer service, and upholding the mission and policies of the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County. The building supervisor works with staff, members, guests, and program participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Routinely walk all areas of the facility to manage program quality and delivery, serve as a resource to members and staff, gain continual awareness of facility activities, and ensure adequate staffing coverage for all areas.
  2. Manage the building when directors are not present.
  3. Use program knowledge, along with facility, and staffing schedules to deliver proactive assistance and/or intervention as needed to members and staff.
  4. Guide and/or redirect staff as necessary and appropriate.
  5. May be required to assist with laundry or give tours as directed by branch leadership.
  6. Respond immediately to any emergency situations as per the YMCAs safety and risk protocol. First Aid and CPR Training provided upon hire.
  7. Possess knowledge of emergency procedures as they relate to calling 911, weather, medical or facility emergencies and performing related functions as required by emergency staff.
  8. Must be able to demonstrate safe use of fitness equipment. Training provided upon hire.
  9. Respond promptly and professionally to members, participants and staff needs. Handle complaints in a courteous, patient manner using problem-solving techniques.
  10. Fill out incident/accident reports following any conflict or emergency situations.
  11. Responsible for strict adherence to all YMCA of Greater Waukesha County department policies and procedures related to safety, rules, and other regulations.
  12. Uphold the core values of the YMCA when working with people within the YMCA facilities and community.
  13. Close the facility in accordance with the posted hours. Make sure that the facility is empty and secure at closing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Previous manager on duty, customer service, or first responder experience is required.
  3. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb stairs, for extended periods of time and during entire shift.
  4. Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certifications.
  5. Must be self-motivated, enthusiastic and be able to relate well to a diverse population, in person and over the phone.
  6. Must have sound decision making skills, require minimal supervision, and work well with members and staff.
  7. This person will exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, responsibility, and respect in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
