Job description

The Building Supervisor will play a pivotal role in effective management of all assigned duties during non-traditional operating hours. This includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. The incumbent will provide essential support by supervising part-time desk staff, Fitness First staff, gym attendants, scorekeepers, birthday party leaders, contractual staff, and maintenance staff. The position involves addressing patron inquiries, managing emergency situations, and overseeing maintenance issues. Utilizing all available resources within the District, the manager ensures the smooth and efficient delivery of services while adhering to established policies and procedures of the Skokie Park District.

Essential Duties:

  1. Security and Operations Oversight:
  • Oversee the operations of the building, ensuring strict enforcement of security policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Conduct routine walk-throughs of the facility, including program rooms, gymnasium, Fitness First, track, and common areas, to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and safety.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms.

2. Safety and Facility Maintenance:

  • Conducts routine facility checks during peak times to ensure a safe environment for patrons and staff.
  • Maintain a checklist of walk-through and closing procedures.
  • Assist front desk staff and gym attendnants with their job duties during peak busy times.

3. Customer Service:

  • Greet and interact with the public in a courteous and knowledgeable manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to inquiries, questions, and special requests.
  • Handle and resolve customer issues and complaints promptly to and courteously.
  • Provide facility tours as requested.

4. Staff Leadership:

  • Assist part-time staff with room set-ups, facility maintenance, and provide coverage in various areas.
  • Communicate and exemplify the core values of the Skokie Park District to the part-time staff.
  • Train and monitor the work of evening and weekend customer service staff to ensure effective promotion of facility events and incentives.

5. Safety Reporting and Liaison:

  • Handle emergency situations as they arise, coordinating with appropriate personnel to ensure a swift and effective response.
  • Complete accident reports for patron injuries and, if applicable, take photos of the accident site.
  • Complete Form 45 for staff workplace injuries and promptly notify the Weber Center Manager of any staff injuries.

6. Facility Closure:

  • Clear building of all patrons.
  • Close and lock the building, ensuring proper security meausres are in place to prevent theft and vandalism.

Weber Leisure Centerโ€™s Hours:

Monday-Friday: 5:30am-9pm

Saturday: 6am-8pm

Sunday: 6am-8pm

Potential Hours & Schedule:

Monday-Thursday: 6pm-12am (6 hours)

Friday: 6-9:30pm (3.5 hours)

Saturday: 5-9pm (4 hours)

Sunday: 6-11pm (5 hours)

  • Building Supervisor will not work 7 days in a row.
  • Hours may vary depending on after hour league needs and open gym schedules. Hours may be expanded on some evenings due to games running late. Hours may be less when there are no after hour leagues running.
  • Building Supervisor will be the last person to leave the building and is responsible for clearing and closing the building.

    ** This job falls in paygrade PT7. The target hiring range for this position is $20.00-$22.00ย per hour depending onย qualifications.

Must be an adult at least 21 years of age. Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Prefer an individual with an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree. Three years related experience in building supervision. Must possess excellent leadership and customer service skills.
