Job Description:
Under the guidance of a Certified Medial Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse preceptor works at an entry-level, assisting RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care in the ambulatory setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. As an apprentice, the Clinical Assistant in Training will perform identified procedures individually once competencies have been demonstrated. Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category.
Education Qualifications:
We are hiring for a Clinical Assistant or a Clinical Assistant Apprenticeship to join our Superior Clinic.
About the Apprenticeship: Essentia Health's Clinical Assistant Apprenticeship Program offers individuals the opportunity to become certified through the National Health Associations CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) Certification program.
With a combination of one-year full time on-the-job training and educational courses, the Apprentice will be prepared to become certified through the CCMA board, which recognizes working experience as a qualification to take the exam.
Apprentices are paired with mentors/preceptors to learn all facets of the Clinical Assistant duties while they review and study classroom materials on their own time with the support of educational instructors and support staff. During your time with on-the-job training, you will work at an entry-level scope, assisting RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
Clinical Assistant Apprenticeship: High School diploma or equivalent
Clinical Assistant Apprenticeship Wage: $19.00
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months
  • Enrolled in the In-Clinic Assistant Training Apprenticeship Program (ICATAP) advancing through learning modules every 3 months for 12 months as skills are acquired to perform the Clinical Assistant position. Upon completion of the ICATAP apprentice program, CCMA Board Certification is required within 12 months of completing the apprentice education program and meeting the on the job hours requirement
