Job description

As a member of the Sun Day Red (SDR) product team, this position will be instrumental in leading the design of the SDR apparel range across all distribution segments and a fully global landscape. This role will work directly with Merchandising and Commercial teams to understand the consumer needs and create a segmentation and range plan that will support the brand strategy. They will be expected to present a portfolio of work that shows the ability to execute complex projects at a high level from start to finish. They must be able to integrate conceptual thinking into their work, and able to communicate a clear strategy to complete a large amount of work under tight deadlines.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute on all aspects of the apparel and accessory creation process. From Inspiration > Creation > Tech > BOM > Comment
  • Manage multiple categories and classifications, from long-range to short-turn projects
  • Collaborate and align with Leadership team on seasonal fabrics, yarns, and color direction, working with product development on research and development of qualities
  • Contribute to overall design intent and art direction for the seasonal ranges
  • Work with product team to ensure regional alignment across categories, while capitalizing on key market trends to identify new opportunities that are right for the brand
  • Assist in the design and creation of yardage prints, graphics and art for the apparel and accessories lines
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the market, trends, innovation, competition, and product
  • Liaise closely with Sales, Buying and Production teams on an ongoing basis to ensure items suit the customer, market and price points
  • Manage time and action calendar for assigned categories to meet all deadlines
  • Travel as needed which may include factory visits, market visits, trade shows, inspiration, suppliers
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Ability to create and implement brand right, consumer relevant prints, color stories and apparel
  • Ability to identify key marketplace trends and opportunities that are consistent with brand values and design aesthetic
  • Knowledge of product development process, calendar, timelines, etc.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate closely cross-functionally
  • Must be able to multitask and work in fast paced environment
  • Proactive with a solution and results oriented mindset
  • Ability to meet deadlines with strong follow through skills
  • Must be highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Must be knowledgeable in Illustrator, Photoshop, and familiarity w/ PLM
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels.

Education, Work Experience and Professional Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in commercial art, graphic design, industrial design or related field
  • 15+ years of experience as an apparel designer
  • Strong portfolio of high-level produced work
  • Experience in Golf apparel industry strongly preferred

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office conditions; heavy computer and phone use
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary to communicate with global vendors and meet deadlines
  • Occasional domestic and international travel required (<15%)
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials

TaylorMade, including our SUN DAY RED division, is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach to compensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected annual base pay range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
