Job description

MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a student currently enrolled in a college or university program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. As a Release Management Intern, you will be a part of the corporate applications team and gain exposure to a variety of projects and activities within the energy industry and technology. This position is temporary, nonexempt, and full-time/hourly during the summer, with the potential to continue on a part-time/hourly basis throughout the academic year.
MidAmerican Energy Company, a Midwest utility, provides regulated electric and natural gas service to more than 1.6 million customers in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow defined processes and procedures 
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycles, Agile, or DevOps concepts (preferred but not required)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, or Power Automate) is a plus

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and communicating software releases across multiple platforms
  • Support release managers in maintaining release calendars, deployment schedules, and change documentation
  • Help prepare and distribute release communications, including release schedules, deployment notifications, and post release updates
  • Participate in change management processes, including Change Advisory Board (CAB) preparation and documentation support
  • Monitor release completion and assist with postrelease reporting
  • Assist with daily data cleanup and maintenance activities within Azure DevOps 
  • Perform data entry, reporting, and metrics tracking for release performance and compliance
  • Update standard operating procedures, workflows, and lessons learned
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the Release Management team as needed
