IT Asset Management Intern

Role Overview

The IT Asset Management Intern supports the IT Asset Management function by assisting with asset tracking, procurement coordination, and inventory management activities across the IT hardware and software lifecycle. This role helps ensure accurate asset records, proper inventory control, and efficient handling of IT assets from procurement through receipt, deployment, return, and disposition. The intern works closely with IT and Supply Chain teams to support daily operations and maintain visibility into asset inventory and purchasing activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Mitsubishi Power core competencies: action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self and others, and ownership.
  • Assist with tracking laptops, peripherals, and other IT hardware throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Support asset intake activities, including receiving, tagging, and updating asset records.
  • Maintain accurate asset data in asset management systems and tracking files.
  • Monitor asset status, including in stock, deployed, returned, and retired.
  • Support IT inventory management, including stock levels, asset availability, and storage organization.
  • Assist with periodic inventory counts and reconciliation activities.
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies in inventory records.
  • Help ensure proper handling and storage of IT equipment.
  • Assist with tracking IT hardware purchase orders and shipments.
  • Support coordination of incoming asset deliveries and validate received equipment against purchase orders.
  • Assist in documenting standard asset configurations and commonly purchased items.
  • Maintain and update asset and inventory tracking files.
  • Assist in generating basic reports on inventory levels, asset movement, and purchase activity.
  • Support data cleanup and organization to improve record accuracy.
  • Assist with maintaining asset management standard operating procedures and process guides.
  • Help improve asset tracking and inventory processes and create reference materials for asset handling.
  • Coordinate with IT teams on asset needs and deployment tracking.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain on order status and deliveries.
  • Support communication regarding asset availability and inventory updates.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to follow processes and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Interest in IT operations, asset management, or supply chain preferred.
  • Basic understanding of IT hardware, including laptops and peripherals, preferred.
  • Exposure to inventory tracking or data entry processes preferred.
