Director of Deployment - ASI Logistics

Director of Deployment - ASI Logistics

Autonomous Solutions

Mendon, UT

Full-time

Posted 8 days ago

Job description

ASI Logistics deploys autonomous yard trucks in distribution centers, manufacturing plants, terminals, and logistics yards, delivering a complete operating solution that combines autonomous vehicles, on-site operations, remote support, maintenance, and customer integration.

The Director of Deployment is a senior leadership role that owns customer deployments from signed contract through successful pilot and scaled commercial operation. Reporting to the General Manager of ASI Logistics, the Director serves as the account-level general manager, balancing customer outcomes, operational execution, autonomy limitations, product priorities, and financial performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own each customer deployment from contract execution through pilot, launch, and scaled operation.
  • Manage the team through tactical site deployment, including readiness, commissioning, testing, staffing, safety, training, and customer acceptance.
  • Define the concept of operations for each site based on customer needs and the current capabilities of the autonomy system.
  • Manage trade-offs across operational scope, throughput, reliability, labor, safety, and deployment speed.
  • Clearly communicate what ASI can deliver today and how the solution will expand over time.
  • Define the complete customer solution, including vehicles, autonomy, operators, remote support, maintenance, uptime, integrations, and service levels.
  • Develop a perspective on the trade-offs between a product model vs. a service model (ASI operates as the yard operator) and where and when each makes sense.
  • Build a phased customer roadmap for expanding moves, operating hours, vehicle count, and levels of autonomy.
  • Translate field issues and customer needs into structured, prioritized product and engineering requirements and share with the product manager.
  • Own account-level performance, including uptime, utilization, service quality, deployment cost, labor cost, contribution margin, and reporting of project-level P&Ls into the ASI Logistics business P&L.
  • Build repeatable deployment playbooks, operating processes, and the team required to support multiple customer sites.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Pilots launch safely, on schedule, and meet defined customer success criteria.
  • Customers have confidence in both the current solution and the roadmap to scale.
  • Product limitations are translated into clear, economically prioritized development requirements.
  • Deployments become faster, more standardized, and more profitable over time.
  • ASI builds a repeatable model for operating multiple autonomous yard-truck sites.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, or a related field required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-10+ years of progressive industry experience in operations, logistics, industrial automation/robotics, or technology-enabled deployments, ideally including P&L or account-level ownership.
  • 5+ years of leadership/people-management experience, including experience leading cross-functional and/or multi-site teams.
  • Experience leading complex deployments, implementations, or technology-enabled operations.
  • Strong customer-facing and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Experience with logistics, transportation, industrial automation, robotics, autonomous systems, fleet operations, or a related field.
  • Ability to translate technical limitations into practical operating models.
  • Experience managing budgets, unit economics, or account-level P&Ls.
  • Willingness to travel moderately and spend time at customer sites as needed.
