Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Product Manager of ASI Logistics manages and oversees all aspects of our logistics technology product to ensure it is completed on-time and within budget and according to a Product Development Process. The Product Manager coordinates with Project Leads, Engineering/Development Managers, Product Architects, and other key stakeholders in the Product Development Process to design and develop software and hardware for autonomous logistics vehicles.

The primary responsibilities of the Product Manager are prioritizing product features and fixes, planning, and ensuring customer and ASI stakeholder expectations are met. Has overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, partnerships, and contractual deliverables and needs to be capable of making key and timely decisions on all aspects of the Product Development Process. Prepares reports for upper management regarding status of product. Possesses strong knowledge of technology. Typically reports to the Vice President of Product and/or the GM of the Business Unit.ย 

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Program Manager in software, hardware, or other related industry.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience delivering products in hardware and software development industry. Preferred experience in automation or robotics.
  • Demonstrated skills with project management tools and methodologies, software development lifecycle, and problem-solving. Preferred experience in AGILE process.
  • Capability to support and execute a go-to-market strategy and drive a product to commercialization through a Product Development Process.
  • Ability to meet defined customer-initiated deadlines.
  • Proficiency in fostering positive business opportunities and relationships with customers.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing people in a team-based environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing people

  • Help in determining the staffing needs and sustainable staffing budget needed to deliver on the Product Development Process.
  • Meet with the team in daily standups to review the backlog of work.
  • Coordinate personnel issues with Functional Managers including quarterly performance review feedback, disciplinary issues, and employee recognitions.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere where team members can be happy and productive.

Product Management

  • Involve the product team in critical aspects of the planning process to generate buy-in and ownership.
  • Works with customers/partners on requirements and coordinates with Product Architects, Project Managers, Development Managers, Product Architects and other key product teams regarding important technical impacts to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Hold team members responsible for the quality, safety, and timeliness of all work they are assigned to perform.
  • Accept ultimate responsibility for the success or failure of assigned products.
  • Strong decision-making skills. Ability to consider and weigh inputs/options and come to a decision.
  • Schedule and conduct regular product meetings, design reviews, post product meetings, and all other product-related meetings.
  • Communicate frequently with Steering Committee on product progress and process improvements.
  • Manage the customer relationship in a positive, attentive, and effective manner.
  • Proactively identify and communicate safety issues and concerns to product stakeholders (product team, customer, Safety Committee, and company officers).

Business Development

  • Identify opportunities and respond to requests for proposals and quotations from customers and the ASI business development team, in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the gathering of customer requirements and defining the project scope.
  • Identify and address potential risks associated with proposed work and identify technical solutions.
  • Provide budget, milestones, and invoice schedules to Business Development.
