GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Arkansas State University-Beebe, a two-year residential community college and part of
the Arkansas State University System, invites applications for a full-time, Instructor of Automotive Technology to begin August 2026.
The successful candidate will possess thorough knowledge of the discipline to share in the teaching secondary and post-secondary students. Courses taught include Intro to Automotive Technology, Automatic Transmissions, Suspension & Steering, Brakes, and Engine Performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide instruction on performing maintenance and light repair of automobiles.
2. Provide instruction on conducting regular preventative maintenance including inspection, tire rotation, and oil changes
3. Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop.
4. Collaborate with repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs.
5. Perform regular diagnostic tests on automobiles and provide instruction in this area.
6. Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicle and provide instruction.
7. Take daily attendance of students and record attendance.
8. Record grades and assess student performance.
9. Cultivate and maintain relationships with industry partners to enhance curriculum and provide employment opportunities for students.
10. Develop and maintain an active advisory committee from relevant local and regional industry professionals.
11. Maintain current industry accreditations and explore/implement new accreditations that are beneficial to the program's and students' success.
12. Achieve program recruitment goals to ensure a minimum annual program enrollment of at least 40 students.
13. Work closely with the Director of Regional Career Center and Dean of Career Education to achieve recruitment and program goals.
14. Assist with fundraising and grant writing for the automotive technology program.
15. Ability to create lesson plans and program level outcomes and carry them out effectively as well as follow written curriculum.
16. Ability to work with students having a wide range of abilities and skill levels.
17. Use college technology such as CANVAS, Campus Management, and Office 365 adequately and appropriately.
18. Maintain a safe learning environment in the lab/shop area.
19. Safely operate a forklift.
20. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
21. Maintain partnership with Toyota and develop partnerships with other manufacturers in order to provide manufacturers' training and certifications to all students.
Required Qualifications
Possess an Associate's Degree in a relevant field or working on obtaining degree and/or appropriate automotive certifications with the ability to obtain an Associate's Degree; 3 to 5 years work related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred and previous teaching experience preferred. ASE Certifications G1, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, L1, and EPA609.
