Network Operations Manager

Location: Tallahassee, FL

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Network Operations Manager to lead network operations, infrastructure, security, and technology support in a statewide environment. This role is responsible for network performance and reliability, network architecture, security operations, infrastructure planning, and the implementation and support of network technologies.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical leadership skills, experience managing network operations, and the ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate daily network operations and IT security activities.
  • Develop and implement standards, procedures, and processes for network operations and security.
  • Serve as a network architect and advise management on network architecture, modernization, security, and best practices.
  • Manage statewide network operations, service levels, performance, reliability, and infrastructure.
  • Plan and manage the implementation and support of new technologies, including wireless networking.
  • Develop, configure, maintain, support, and optimize network hardware, software, and communications infrastructure.
  • Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, and Voice over IP (VoIP) systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and other network services.
  • Support servers, Windows workstations, operating systems, and applicable applications.
  • Provide network troubleshooting and resolve hardware and software-related network issues.
  • Support Microsoft Teams and SharePoint administration.
  • Maintain and support network security solutions, including patches, anti-virus, malware, and spyware protection.
  • Provide consultative technical support for local and remote servers.
  • Support network printers, antivirus software, logon scripts, NTFS permissions, and network-related help desk issues.
  • Support and maintain virtualized environments.
  • Prioritize and resolve technical issues in high-pressure and emergency situations.
  • Mentor technical staff and share knowledge across the team.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing network operations and service levels for data and voice networking equipment, advanced phone systems, and network-processing devices.
  • Experience managing statewide or enterprise network operations.
  • Strong knowledge of network architecture, infrastructure, security, and best practices.
  • Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, VoIP, and network communications.
  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing network hardware, software, and communications links.
  • Experience planning and supporting new network technologies, including wireless.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to new technologies, and learn new tools with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word; working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Ability to mentor technical staff and work effectively as part of a team.
