Job Description
Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking for a Architectural Designer I to work in the Downers Grove, IL Design Center. The ideal candidate will be familiar with building codes and have some experience working in the industrial sector of architecture.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of routine architectural assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for assigned phases of a project.
  • Participate in analyses required to formulate and determine design criteria for buildings, structures, systems, materials and components.
  • Assist in the preparation of architectural, engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bills of material, building code reviews and cost estimates.
  • Participate in studies of construction techniques and economic feasibility studies, such as the provision of "value engineering".
  • Review client requests for architectural change orders and recommend action to supervisor. Assess vendor submittals and field information requests.
  • Effectively interfacing with individuals or groups representing various backgrounds, disciplines and levels of experience.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture or equivalent professional experience and knowledge of Architecture.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Architectural work experience in similar industry.
  • A working knowledge of architecture and architectural building elements as related to the industrial, chemical, food/beverage, and pharmaceutical fields.
  • Reasonable artistic skills with the capability of transferring ideas and impressions to proposals, studies, and ultimately, to working drawings.
  • General knowledge of computer and CADD systems, and the ability to successfully interact with those utilizing CADD systems on a daily basis.
  • Commitment to quality, responsibility, high work standards, and initiatives. Flexibility to change focus as necessitated by conflicts and revised deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, as well as strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize work assignments and coordinate a variety of tasks, with good understanding and attention to detail.
  • Experience with architectural software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit is preferred.

In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act, the expected salary range for this Designer I - Architectural position is between $75,400 and $106,145 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on multiple factors, including a candidate's education, training, experience, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
This Designer I - Architectural position is eligible for participation in Zachry's Total Employee Rewards Program, which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, and other ancillary benefits. This position is also eligible for participation in the 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan.
