Job description

Summary

A growing construction advisory firm is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support construction lending and owner's representative projects from preconstruction through closeout. The firm works on behalf of banks, lenders, and project owners, monitoring construction progress, budgets, documentation, and payment applications to ensure projects stay on track.

Projects are approximately 50% multifamily, with the remainder consisting of commercial, healthcare, tenant improvements, and other vertical construction. This is an excellent opportunity for someone coming from a general contractor who wants to transition into construction consulting.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support construction projects on behalf of lenders and owners
  • Review construction drawings, contracts, budgets, and project documentation
  • Perform jobsite visits to verify construction progress
  • Review payment applications, draw requests, and change orders
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and overall project health
  • Prepare project reports for lenders and ownership teams
  • Coordinate with owners, contractors, architects, and consultants
  • Review project costs and assist with risk assessments
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Travel to project sites throughout California and occasional out-of-state projects

Requirements
  • 2–5 years of experience with a general contractor
  • Experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or similar role

  • Familiarity with payment applications, change orders, and project documentation
  • Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel experience required
